Who is Pioneer?
Pioneer’s Rich History
In 1986, Pioneer’s founders recognized a real need within the market and started an investment company in Israel that provided international investment services to expatriates. A truly innovative concept at the time, it became clear that their personal, boutique-style services would suit other markets, and the company quickly ventured into the South African and Latin American markets.
By 1988, Pioneer had caught the attention of South Africa's largest life insurance company and fund manager, Old Mutual International. Recognizing the company’s ability to bring international investment solutions to local markets, Old Mutual International acquired a large stake in Pioneer. In 1999, Old Mutual took the strategic decision to demutualize. At the same time, a group of private international investors led by the highly respected investment entrepreneur, Monty Hilkowitz, acquired significant interest in Pioneer.
Over the past 25 years, Pioneer has evolved into a global boutique financial services firm, offering industry expertise in advisory services, wealth management and investment management. Our focus on "boutique" expertise and service is embedded in our foundation.
The Pioneer Culture
With Pioneer’s history so closely tied to fulfilling client needs, our culture has always mirrored this commitment. Since inception, our business has been based on relationships, even before it was popular to say so, going all the way back to 1986 when we started helping people make sense of their financial world.
